Up here on Exmoor many of the ancient beech hedges have fallen into disrepair and yet in doing so they have become an art form in their own right!

I have become attracted to the silouette of these old beech tree’s with some being contorted into weird mythical animals and orc’s right out of Lord of the Rings …. Whatever you want to see it can be found in these gnarled old hedges.

I have created here one of a pair of pictures called “Deserted Beech” … one is a left hand and the other is a right hand … as it happens they hang as an opposing pair in my office!
